PARIS, Jan. 27 - Victoria Beckham has traded a tense family atmosphere for the glitz of Paris. The former Spice Girl received France's prestigious Knight of the Council of Arts and Letters award on Monday, while a bitter feud with her eldest son Brooklyn continues to simmer at home.
She arrived in the French capital with husband David Beckham and their children - without Brooklyn, who last week publicly accused his parents of trying to "ruin" his marriage. Culture Minister Rachida Dati called Victoria a "global icon" and praised her "precise, almost architectural, approach to fashion."
The ceremony was held behind closed doors to avoid a media circus after explosive claims by Brooklyn that his mother "ruined his first dance" and behaved "inappropriately" during their wedding, confirming long-rumored tensions in one of the world's most closely watched families.
Victoria Beckham has been regularly presenting new collections in Paris since 2022, and she calls France a key country in her fashion career. A video of the award ceremony showed David Beckham and the rest of the family cheering Victoria on. Names like Antoine Arnault and François-Henri Pinault were also in the audience.
While Victoria is collecting honors in Europe and David has a fresh knighthood from King Charles III at home, the Beckham family drama is far from over. Paris gave her a round of applause, but question marks over her relationship with her son remain.
