Jet2 Issues Updated Travel Rules for Greece, Spain, France, Portugal and Turkey

Thousands of British holidaymakers heading to Europe this summer are being urged to check the latest travel requirements after airline giant Jet2 updated its guidance for popular destinations including Greece, Spain, France, Portugal and Turkey.

Jet2, one of the United Kingdom’s largest airlines and holiday operators, said travellers should carefully review entry rules before departure, especially following the European Union’s rollout of its new Entry/Exit System (EES).

The digital border system, introduced on October 12, 2025, affects British passport holders travelling to countries within the Schengen Zone, including Greece, Spain, France and Portugal.

According to Jet2, travellers may now face digital checks on arrival and departure, which could lead to longer waiting times at airports across Europe.

“Without a visa, entry is permitted for a maximum stay of 90 days in a 180-day period,” Jet2 states for destinations including Greece, France, Spain and Portugal.

The airline also reminded passengers that requirements can vary depending on nationality and passport type, urging travellers to check official government advice before flying.

For Portugal, additional rules apply to minors travelling without parents or legal guardians. Travellers under 18 must carry a signed authorisation letter when entering or leaving the country, including Madeira.

Meanwhile, Jet2 clarified that Turkey is not part of the EU’s Entry/Exit System, meaning British travellers heading there will not be affected by the new digital checks.

However, Turkey maintains separate passport validity requirements, with travellers needing passports valid for at least 150 days from the date of arrival.

The updated guidance comes as millions of Europeans prepare for the busy summer holiday season, with Greece once again among the most popular destinations for British tourists.
